Each letter is a hollow body for LED strip and a diffuser lid that slides in with a lip. Type the text, pick a font and size, place the wire holes — and see how the sign glows on the wall.
3D-printed light-up letters
LED channel letters for a café or shop sign, or a glowing word for your wall at home. Every letter is a hollow body for LED strip and a removable diffuser lid. Type your text and the generator builds all the letters at once, with wire holes and mounting. You get an STL (everything together) or a ZIP (each part separately).
How a letter is built
- Body — side walls and a back. The LED strip goes inside; letters with inner holes (O, A, R) get their own walls there too.
- Diffuser lid — with a lip along its outline that slides into the body. Clearance per side is adjustable (0.15 mm by default), and the lip is recalculated to match.
Sizes
Up to 24 characters, letter height 40–240 mm, body depth 10–80 mm. Wall, back and lid thickness and lip thickness and depth can be tuned to your printer and filament. Every letter is checked on its own: if one is larger than your bed, the generator names it.
Wire holes exactly where you need them
Double-tap a side wall to put a hole in it near the back; double-tap the floor or the back to put a hole through the back. Drag the marker to move it; holes stay in place when you change the letter size.
Wall mounting
Screws — two holes in the back, in the widest part of the letter. If there is no room, you get a warning.
Preview
The On the wall view shows the sign at night: lids glow in the chosen color with a halo on the wall. The Exploded view shows bodies and lids apart. Letters can go in a row or a column.
FAQ
How do I make DIY light-up letters with a 3D printer?
Type the text, set the letter height and depth, add wire holes and download the files. Print the bodies in any filament and the lids in white or translucent; stick LED strip inside and push the lid in by its lip.
How do I add a wire hole?
Double-tap a side wall of a letter on the model — a blue marker appears and the hole goes into that wall near the back of the body. Double-tap the floor or the back — the hole goes through the back. Drag the marker along the wall to move it; double-tap it to remove the hole.
How should I print the lids?
The lids in the files are already flipped face down, so the front comes out smooth. Use white or translucent filament to diffuse the light.
The lid is too tight or too loose — what do I do?
Change Clearance per side: more is looser, less is tighter. The lip is recalculated. It is handy to test the fit on one letter before printing the whole word.
What is the difference between STL and ZIP?
The STL has all bodies and lids in one file, laid out for printing the same way as on the wall: in a row or a column. The ZIP has every part as a separate STL file, named by number and letter.
